The Jubilee Parade - 3rd June 2002MPEG movie of the St Andrew's group passing Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh (off the left of the picture) Here is a slightly higher quality version (but a longer
download): David had organised a small group from St Andrews to take part. Detailed to assemble at David’s home by 0900 hrs, proceed to the Long Walk, and then wait until the order to "march off". David and Stuart holding aloft the banner (made by Prue) stating "St Andrews Church Clewer" on one side, and "God Save Our Queen" on the other. We had been told we wouldn’t be walking very fast because of the young children taking part – BUT – when we actually came to pass the Queen and Prince Philip I wasn’t sure if we were part of the Light Infantry or the Household Cavalry going past at the trot! David and Stuart executed a very smart "Dose Do" just before we reached the Queen, so that as we passed, the "God Save Our Queen" was prominent. Though I didn’t see anyone I knew as we walked along, was surprised on my return home, by a message from my son in Suffolk to say "seen you on TV" and then two days later my second son on holiday in Tunisia phoned to check of it was me wearing yellow and black, becaus3e no one believed his "that’s my Mum" while they were watching the celebrations on TV in their hotel - - - fame at last!! Think I can say we all enjoyed our participation, I certainly did. Far more than being on three parades on Coronation Day. Betty Doughty
